Study Questions for December 28, 2025

  1. Based on the message, could someone give the background for the book of Haggai? When it was written, why it was written, who is being addressed by the prophet in the book?
  2. Read Haggai 2:1-5 (NLT). When the Israelites compared to the past temple, it prevented them from doing the work to rebuild a new one. How has nostalgia/comparison kept you from doing what you needed to do?
  3. How did Haggai spur them on to the work in verses 2:1-5?
  4. Why was rebuilding the temple so important? What was the cost of Israel’s corruption? What will be the cost of our corruption if we do not seek Christ?
  5. Read Haggai 2:6-8 (NLT). Where do we see the easter egg in these verses that Christ is the Desire of the Nations?
  6. What does the way you spend your capital (time, talents, treasures) reveal about what you value the most in your life?
  7. Read Haggai 2:9 (NLT). Where in the New Testament does Christ refer to himself as this more glorious temple? How does Jesus bring about peace through the temple of his body?
  8. Read Revelation 21:22-27 (NLT). Meditate on what it will be like one day when Christ returns and all nations worship him. Let this future hope stir you to work hard today, as the Lord is with you.
