Study Questions for February 23, 2025

Read Mark 3:22-27 and 4:35-6:6

How is 4:36-6:6 the evidence of Jesus' illustration in 3:27?

Is there a particular circumstance in your past or present that has felt particularly overwhelming? How did it manifest itself? Suddenly? Building in waves? Personally? Circumstantially?

How does a study of Mark 4:35-6:6 encourage you? Were there any examples from the text that you identified most?

Mark helps us acknowledge the spiritual conflict behind the chaotic circumstances of our lives. By using the account of the storm at sea, Mark takes us back to the opening line of Mark 1:1. How would you answer the apostle's question of 4:41?

What does the value of life mean to the townspeople of Gesara? Using the characters you meet in 4:35-5:43, how does Jesus value human life? In what areas of life might you experience conflict between the value of material things (profit) and the value of people (human life)?

In 6:1-6, how are the people of Jesus' hometown like the religious leaders of 3:22-27?

From the lessons of this text, can you think of one application that will help you prepare for the spiritual conflict that will come your way this year?
