Elementary-Aged Kids and Worship

As we approach our Christmas Worship services this weekend, we want to invite parents to bring their elementary-aged children to join them in the Worship Center. We believe there is great value in children witnessing and participating in corporate worship alongside their families. This practice not only helps children see aspects of their parents faith lived out that they don't normally get to see but also integrates them into the larger church community, fostering a sense of belonging and unity in the body of Christ.

Throughout the Bible, we see examples of God's people worshiping together as families. In Deuteronomy 31:12-13, Moses instructs the Israelites to gather "men, women, children, and the foreigners residing in your towns so they can listen and learn to fear the Lord your God." Similarly, in the New Testament, when Paul addresses the churches in his letters, he often assumes that children are present (Ephesians 6:1-3). These passages highlight the importance of children being present in worship, hearing God's Word, and witnessing the example of the entire congregation lifting their hearts in praise.

At CFC, we intentionally close certain classes at certain times throughout the year to encourage this family worship experience. In doing this, we hope to create a less intimidating opportunity to introduce kids to the Worship Service for the first time. It is less intimidating for parents knowing that others are in the same boat. We believe the practice of children joining in the service helps to lay a foundation for lifelong faith and discipleship, where children learn the rhythms of worship and see their parents modeling a heart of devotion to God.

This Christmas Worship service will be a beautiful time of singing, Scripture, and celebrating the birth of Christ together. We hope to see you this weekend as you take advantage of this special opportunity to worship as a family.
