It's a Privilege

This Sunday, we have the privilege of celebrating Communion together. As you come into services, remind yourself that this is a sacred opportunity to remember and rejoice in the grace of Jesus. In Luke 22:19-20, Jesus institutes the Lord’s Supper as He instructs His followers (us) to partake of the bread and cup “in remembrance of Me.”

The Lord in his goodness knew that, by instituting this, our hearts would regularly be drawn back to the cross where Christ gave His life for our salvation. Communion is not a routine ritual but rather a personal encounter with the gospel — and that’s something we need to remind ourselves of daily. As we gather as a church this Sunday, we can look forward to Communion with gratitude and reverence, being reminded of God’s love and mercy.

It's more than just remembrance, though. Communion also points us forward with hope and anticipation. In 1 Corinthians 11:26, Paul writes, “For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord’s death until He returns again.”

When we celebrate Communion, we declare our belief that Christ will return and make all things new (Don’t you need this reminder after watching the news?). It becomes a moment of joyful expectation, reminding us that we are part of God's eternal story and plan. This forward-looking hope should stir our hearts and cause us to look forward to Communion, not just as a solemn tradition, but as a celebration of Christ’s victory and our unity as His people. It also reminds us of the future glory we will one day share with Him.

We can’t wait to worship and celebrate Communion with you this Sunday! As a reminder, Communion at CFC is open to all who believe and have placed their faith and confidence in Jesus!  See you soon!
