Visitation and Care

Bereavement Team

Assist in the preparation and serving of a meal for family and friends following a funeral. The bereavement meals are usually for 25 to 50 people. Occasionally there is a larger party with 75 to 100 people present but these are unusual.
The Win: Funeral attendees grieving the loss of a loved one will get to share a time of food and fellowship here at the church.

This is the right role for you if: 
  • You enjoy the preparation and serving of food to others in a time of grief.
  • You enjoy working in and around the kitchen.


Volunteer Responsibilities: 
  • Assist in the preparation/ serving of food in the CFC kitchen and gym.
  • Assist in the cleanup of dishes and tableware after the meal.
  • Assist in the numerous other details of food preparation.

Time Commitment: There is normally from one to three days advance notification of a bereavement meal. On average, there is about one bereavement meal per month. The time commitment for assisting in the preparation of a meal is usually around 3-4 hours centered on the noon hour. The meals can be requested for any day of the week except Sundays.

Volunteers Needed:  Due to the uncertain timing in the needs of this ministry, it is best suited to volunteers who have a flexible work schedule or who are retired.

Additional Requirements:  

Call Team

The call team makes a few brief phone calls each week to those dealing with a significant health need, recent hospital stay, rehab or shut-in situation and gives encouragement, offers prayer, support, and comfort.
The Win: Those in the CFC congregation are encouraged when dealing with a significant health need, recent hospital stay, rehab or shut-in situation

This is the right role for you if:

  • You have an encouraging attitude

Volunteer Responsibilities: 
  • Make calls at least one day a week
  • Pray for the needs of those in the congregation
  • Confidential and caring disposition

Time Commitment: 30-45 minutes one day a week

Hospital Team

This position is instrumental in being an ambassador for our church in the visitation of those that have a medical need or illness in the hospital. These volunteers will share the love of Christ with them through comforting words, scripture, and prayer. This role will require a one day a week commitment.
The Win: Volunteers will bring comfort to those in need and encourage them in their recovery as a representative of CFC.


This is the right role for you if: 
  • You enjoy talking with people, are a good listener,  and have a compassion for those that are hurting or recovering
  • You have a caring and compassionate nature and outlook

Volunteer Responsibilities: 
  • Visit a local hospital an average of once a week
  • Report back to the church staff after your visit with updates about the patient visited
  • Maintain an positive attitude toward those seen and preserve confidentiality with the patients

Time Commitment: Volunteers are asked to reserve one day a week to visit the hospitals . This can be less during some weeks due to the fact that there may not be someone at every hospital every day of the week.
The visits average about 15-20 minutes per patient.

Volunteers Needed:  Volunteers are needed immediately and a full team is between 15-18 people

Additional Requirements:  

Nursing Home Visitation Team

This position is instrumental in being an ambassador for our church in the visitation of those that are shut-in either at their residence or a Nursing Home Facility. These volunteers will share the love of Christ with them through comforting words, scripture, and prayer. This role requires an average commitment of 2 days per month.
The Win: Volunteers will bring comfort and encouragement to those in a shut-in situation as a representative of CFC.

This is the right role for you if: 
  • You enjoy talking with people, are a good listener, and have a compassion for those that are convalescing or lonely
  • You have a caring and compassionate nature and outlook

Volunteer Responsibilities: 
  • Visit a local nursing home or residence an average of twice a month
  • Report back to the church staff after your visit with updates about the resident visited
  • Maintain an positive attitude toward those seen and preserve confidentiality with the resident

Time Commitment: Volunteers are asked to reserve two days per month to visit the nursing homes or residence . The visits average about 20-30 minutes per resident.

Volunteers Needed:  Volunteers are needed immediately and a full team varies with the number of residents that are shut-ins every month

Shut-In Team

Description
The Win: Our events help us fulfill our mission of encouraging spiritual growth, engaging women in relationships and equipping women to share their life and His love. Women at CFC will be poured into without any strings attached .

This is the Right role for you if:
  • You love to serve behind the scenes 
  • You enjoy creating a beautiful environment that makes women feel welcome and/or putting it all away
  • You are committed to serving other women 

Volunteer Responsibilities:
  • Arriving two hours before an event to decorate and prepare the space
  • Moving tables and chairs
  • Setting up food
  • Greeting women as they arrive and getting them registered
  • Cleaning up the space after the event : Sound equipment, tables and chairs, food, trash, etc

Time Commitment: Varies depending on commitment. Generally 2 hours before an event, the duration of the event, and 1.5 hours after an event. Events occur about once a quarter.

Volunteers Needed: 8 per event

Additional Requirements:  None for set up and tear down, but membership if working as a greeter/registration

Cancer Care Team

Offering compassion for those suffering with cancer.
The Win: Ensuring that each family within our church body, feels known and loved by God and is encouraged with tender compassion when cancer is a part of their lives.

This is the Right role for you if:
  • . You are empathetic, and have a warm, gentle approach toward those in our church family suffering through the effects of cancer.
  • You have lost a loved one to cancer and understand the grieving process.
  • You are a cancer patient or survivor and feel you could offer encouragement and support to others.
  • You are a caregiver for someone with cancer and feel you could encourage other caregivers.
  • You are a member of CFC.
  • You are committed to the vision of CFC.

Volunteer Responsibilities: 
  • Send cards with words of encouragement.
  • Prepare meals for families
  • Pray for those who are struggling with cancer.
  • Make phone calls to check in and pray.
  • Visitations

Time Commitment: Varies per situation.
