Study Questions for November 23, 2025

Revive Us Now, O God!

In preparation for your group discussion. Read through the short prophetic books of Habakkuk and Joel.
  • Note the similarities and differences between the books.
  • Jot down any specific verses that speak to prayer for restoration and revival.

Before revival begins, what do these books say about our posture?

How does Habakkuk 1 speak to you?
  • Does Habakkuk's prayer shock or surprise you?
  • What changes in Habakkuk in chapter 3?
  • Why has he changed?
  • How can you learn from this example?

Joel 1:3 addresses the importance of our testimonies and warnings to the next generation. This takes humility and transparency.
  • When was the last time you had a conversation like this with someone younger than you?
  • Can you think of someone younger who would benefit from a conversation like this?

Last week, we talked about "contextualization," or interpreting and applying a passage from its original intent.  We used the expression "gospel pattern" to signify a New Testament application from an Old Testament text.
  • What gospel patterns do you see in Habakkuk and Joel that pertain to revival for today?
  • Do you see anything that could be misapplied today?
