Revive Us Now O God

Psalm 85:6
Won’t you revive us again,
so your people can rejoice in you?

Habakkuk 1:1-4
1 This is the message that the prophet Habakkuk received in a vision.
2 How long, O LORD, must I call for help?
   But you do not listen!
“Violence is everywhere!” I cry,
but you do not come to save.
3 Must I forever see these evil deeds?
Why must I watch all this misery?
Wherever I look,
   I see destruction and violence.
I am surrounded by people
who love to argue and fight.
4 The law has become paralyzed,
and there is no justice in the courts.
The wicked far outnumber the righteous,
so that justice has become perverted.

Habakkuk 3:2
I have heard all about you, LORD.
I am filled with awe by your amazing works.
In this time of our deep need,
help us again as you did in years gone by.
And in your anger,
   remember your mercy.

Remember what God has done and be encouraged. (3:2a)

Remember what God has done and trust Him again. (3:2b-c)

Joel 2:11c-14

11 The day of the LORD is an awesome, terrible thing.
   Who can possibly survive?
12 That is why the LORD says,
“Turn to me now, while there is time.
Give me your hearts.
Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning.
13 Don’t tear your clothing in your grief,
   but tear your hearts instead.”
Return to the LORD your God,
for he is merciful and compassionate,
slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
He is eager to relent and not punish.
14 Who knows? Perhaps he will give you a reprieve,
sending you a blessing instead of this curse.
Perhaps you will be able to offer grain and wine
to the LORD your God as before.

"Religious affections are comprised of the heart’s vigorous, joyful love for God and delight in His holiness—not just thoughts or feelings, but a transformed will that pursues Christ above all."
- J. Edwards; “A Treatise Concerning Religious Affections” (1746)

Joel 2:28-29
28 “Then, after doing all those things,
I will pour out my Spirit upon all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy.
Your old men will dream dreams,
and your young men will see visions.
29 In those days I will pour out my Spirit
even on servants—men and women alike.”

Ask the Holy Spirit to use the testimonies from the past to revive our lives for faithful living.

Habakkuk 3:17-19

17 Even though the fig trees have no blossoms,
   and there are no grapes on the vines;
even though the olive crop fails,
   and the fields lie empty and barren;
even though the flocks die in the fields,
and the cattle barns are empty,
18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD!
I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!
19 The Sovereign LORD is my strength!
He makes me as surefooted as a deer,
able to tread upon the heights.
