17 Years and Counting
All throughout Scripture, we see God’s heart for the hungry and the hurting. In Proverbs 19:17 we are reminded that “If you help the poor, you are lending to the LORD - and he will repay you.” This principle is a big reason that we are sticking with our 17-year tradition that we call the Thanksgiving Offering & Food Drop. In our own community, there are families quietly struggling to put food on the table. Last week, the VA called us with an empty food pantry, meaning they had no food to give to veterans in need in our community.
Stocking the shelves of 34 local food pantries is more than a charitable act; it’s a way for us to live out God’s command to love our neighbors as ourselves and to be His hands and feet in a world that deeply needs hope. We do this every Thanksgiving out of the thankfulness we have for everything the Lord has done for us.
Every dollar given to the Thanksgiving Offering goes directly to filling those shelves with food that will sustain and encourage families in our area. There are no administrative costs or overhead, meaning 100% of your gift goes to the project itself. When you give, you’re not just donating food, you’re providing nourishment, dignity, and the tangible expression of Christ’s love to people He cares for deeply. Your generosity becomes a testimony that the Church is alive and active, meeting both physical and spiritual needs in the name of Jesus. James 2:15–17 challenges us that faith without works is dead, and this is our chance to put our faith into action.
You can give between now and November 30 at onlinecfc.com/Give or put “Thanksgiving Offering” on your gift and put it in one of the offering boxes in the Worship Center or Chapel. On December 1, we’ll order the food that will be delivered to CFC in semi trailers for the Food Drop on December 13.
If you would like to serve on the day of the Food Drop, please sign up HERE.
CFC family, we are hoping that year 17 will be a record year, as the need in our area has never been greater due to the issues recently with SNAP benefits. We look forward to making a difference with you and worshiping with you this Sunday!
