Read Jonah 2:1-10
  1. Jonah’s prayer in Jonah 2:2-6a describes a moment of deep distress where he cries ou to God from “the land of the dead.”
    
How does Jonah’s desperation shape his prayer, and what can we learn about turning to God in our own moments of crisis?
    
2. The main point from Jonah 2:1-6a asks, “Has your pride distorted your desperation?”
    
How has Jonah's pride shaped the understanding of his circumstances?  How is Jonah crediting God for things that he was trying to make happen himself?
    
3. Jonah 2:4, 7 highlights that our greatest need for mercy is relational, not circumstantial.
    
How does Jonah’s longing to “look once more toward your holy Temple” reflect a desire for a restored relationship with God?  How does this geographical expression display his lack of concern for the Ninevites?
    
How can we prioritize relational closeness with God over seeking solutions to our circumstances?
