Not Just a Sunday Thing

You may have heard it said that worship is much more than singing. We say that worship is our response to our awareness of God. Scripture makes it clear that worship is an all-of-life response, not just a musical one. Romans 12 tells us that we offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God. He deserves more than just a few songs during a Sunday service; He deserves to have every aspect of our lives dedicated to Him. Scripture does, however, make it clear that praise through song is an integral part of worship! Countless Old and New Testament passages direct us to sing to the Lord, praising Him for who He is and what He has done.

So, if praise is part of our lifestyle of worship, it is important to incorporate it into our daily lives, rather than relegating it to Sundays. As a church, we believe that our worship services should be a corporate expression that mirrors our individual worship throughout the week. It is a joy and a privilege to gather together and be encouraged by one another in our worship services, but we ought to be exercising our attitude of praise each and every day.

Hopefully you take time daily to read the Word of the Lord and to pray. Those spiritual disciplines are familiar to us. Less familiar to us, perhaps, is our habit of singing to the Lord as part of our daily life. Maybe you aren’t particularly musical. Maybe you don’t think you have a good voice. Maybe you don’t know where to start when it comes to singing worship songs by yourself. Regardless of the barriers to praise, know this: God gave you the voice that you have, and He wants to hear it! Not only will spending time singing to the Lord each day help you grow in your love for Him, but it will enrich our times of corporate worship on Sundays, as well.

We have a playlist of worship songs that we do in our weekend services. This is a great way to help you incorporate worship music into your daily life. You can find that playlist HERE. Fill your week with praise to the Lord, and you will be prepared to come together and worship Him on Sundays.

If you would like to engage in extended times of corporate worship, we encourage you to come to one of our periodic worship nights. We have one this coming Thursday, October 16 at 6:30pm, and we hope you will join us!
