Surrendering to God's Reign

Read through Psalm 46:1-11-- 2 times without stopping. Then read through 1 time, stopping to meditate on each paragraph at the interlude break.

Security in Christ
Psalm 46:1-3 portrays God as “our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble,” even when “mountains crumble into the sea.”
How does trusting in Christ as your source of security help you navigate personal challenges or crises? Share a moment when you felt God’s strength sustaining you.

Meditating on God’s Presence (Psalm 46:4-7)
The  “Interlude” (Selah) is a call to meditate intently. What does this teach you about how the Psalms should be experienced?

Verses 4-5 describe a river bringing joy to God’s city, where He dwells. How can pausing to “be still” and reflect on God's promise, presence, and provision give you perspective on life?

Consider this with the words of Jesus in John 14:1-6.

Surrendering to Christ’s Reign (Psalm 46:8-11, Revelation 19:11-16)
Psalm 46:10 urges us to “be still, and know that I am God,” while Revelation 19:11-16 depicts Christ as the "leader of heaven's armies" and triumphant “King of all kings.”

How does reflecting on Christ’s ultimate authority encourage you to surrender control in specific areas of your life? Discuss one practical step you can take to align with His reign.

God’s Glory for All Nations (Habakkuk 2:14, Luke 2:30-32)
The supporting passages in Habakkuk 2:14 and Luke 2:30-32 emphasize God’s glory and salvation reaching all people, echoing Psalm 46:10’s declaration that God “will be honored by every nation.”
