Study Questions for December 21, 2025

  1. Do you enjoy sunrises? What is the most memorable sunrise you can think of?
  2. Read Isaiah 8:20 through Isaiah 9:2, as well as Matthew 4:12-17, to see the OT prophecy and NT fulfillment of Jesus as our sunrise or Dayspring.
  3. What is the first thing that the light of the world says when he arrives on the scene in Matthew 4:17?
  4. Practicing repentance/confession: What darkness are you experiencing right now as a result of living in this fallen world?
  5. What sin do you need to bring to the light that you are struggling with?
  6. What suffering are you experiencing or have you experienced that you need to bring to the light? (The sin of others against you, brokenness from living with a broken body, broken mind, etc.)
  7. Read John 3:17-21. What are the dangers of refusing to repent and confess?
  8. Read Revelation 22:5 and linger in the hope of the end of the world of darkness, night, and all the effects of sin. How does thinking about the hope of Jesus return help you live in the present today?
  9. Conclude by singing a version of O Come O Come Emmanuel as a small group… make sure the version includes the verse about Jesus as our Dayspring.
