1. Take some time and consider the ceremonial opportunities we engage. Some are once in a lifetime (weddings) and others are more regular (the Lord's Supper). Why are ceremonies important to us? Have you grown tired of some ceremonial activities?
2. What questions does this covenant ceremony address for Abram?
3. What two particular promises is God addressing in the covenant ceremony?
What over-arching promise is God giving Abram and His descendants? (ie What is reiterated about the character of God?)
4. In what ways does this story encourage or challenge you in the midst of your own seasons of fear, waiting, questions, or doubt?
