Baptism | Public Declaration of Faith
- Baptism is a long and cherished practice of the church that is both symbolic and meaningful.
Images of death and resurrection are symbolically displayed by the immersion of the follower into the water and then raising him or her up out of it.
Baptism is an opportunity to publicly identify with Jesus in His death and resurrection. It is a sacred and beautiful opportunity to declare, “I believe the best possible way to live is the way of Jesus, and I am committed to following Christ—daily dying to myself and allowing the resurrected Christ to live in and through me.”
Baptism is not a means of salvation; rather it is a beautiful picture of our union with Christ and our declaring that we join Him as a people who are living for His purposes now.
