October 2nd Saturday @ Lincoln School

We partnered with Lincoln School in Evansville’s inner-city in 2010 when we helped provide shoes for all of the children in the school at Christmas.  We came back to visit them again on October 13, 2012 for 2nd Saturday.

With the help of Stocker’s Landscaping, some of the older students, the principal and other staff, we tore out the old bushes, and added some easy to maintain landscaping that will make the front of the school look great.

Lots of folks came out for some hard physical labor as you can see in the pictures.  Others brought lunch that we sat down to eat together, while others walked around the school praying for the students, teachers, administrators, and parents.

Below is a story from Ann Bartholmew.  She participated in the October 2nd Saturday by helping to provide lunch for the volunteers and by praying on the prayer walk.

This was my first experience serving at a 2nd Saturday outreach.  I went to lend a hand and left being incredibly blessed.  

Our church is going through a difficult time but serving side-by-side with others was a healing experience for me.  I enjoyed talking with the great kids from Lincoln School and meeting their Principal.  She has taken on a huge task but it is evident she loves what she is doing and cares deeply for the children.  

CFC is full of incredible people and while our purpose was to show Christ’s love to others we also received love in return.
